In what is perhaps one of the best boxing trilogies in recent history, Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao of the Philippines beat Erik 'El Terrible' Morales of Mexico after only three rounds of boxing in the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was a technical knockout win for the super featherweight division champ Pacquiao, after bringing Morales down on the third round.
The fight started out with a wild exchange of punches from both sides. With a series of right hooks and jabs on the body, El Terrible suffered three knockdowns during the entire fight.
However, with only three seconds remaining on the third round, Pacquiao again knocked down the veteran Mexican fighter, who appeared to send a signal to his corner that he was finished fighting, bringing forth Pacquiao's victory.
It can be recalled that the two fighters first slugged it out on the ring twice before. The first match was won by Morales from a unanimous decision last year. The Filipino fighter Pacquiao emerged victorious on their second meeting, winning over Morales via technical knockout, bringing the series to a match.
The quickness of Pacquiao as well as his youth over the much experienced Mexican fighter Morales proved to be too much for the latter to handle. Prior to the match, 'El Terrible' lost three out of four in his most recent fights.
The victory of Pacquiao had Morales contemplating retirement, commenting that Pacquiao was too fast and too strong. This loss brings about Morales' professional record to 48-5, while Pacquiao's record improved with a 43-3.
18,276 Filipino, Mexican and American boxing fans from all over the world flocked to the Thomas and Mack Center, marking the second largest audience draw in the arena's history. Comments : Add a comment
