What comes to your mind when you hear "Quezon City”? Yes, that is the Quezon Memorial Circle located at the very heart of Quezon City. The Quezon Memorial Circle is the country’s national park and shrine.
The Quezon Memorial Circle was originally created for the building of the National Capitol in Quezon City. However, President Sergio Osmena released an executive order demanding his team to create a Quezon Memorial Committee that will raise funds. The funds were then used to build a monument in honor of the President Manuel Luis Quezon.
It was in the 1950s that the Quezon Memorial was started. Slowly, the planned structures like the presidential library, theater and museum materialized. In 2005, the remains of Mrs. Aurora A. Quezon, widow of the president, were buried in the memorial as well.
Quezon Memorial Circle is now the highlight of Quezon City. The shrine is great for visitors where they can find exhibits of the different memorabilia, photos and souvenirs owned by the late President Manuel L. Quezon.
Its park is where many of its residents, tourists and neighboring cities spend their weekends. They would find many events held in the park. This is also a great place to do leisure sports, picnics with the whole family, tiangge shopping and other activities. Comments : Add a comment
What comes to my mind as I heard or remember QC Circle? Almost all my high school and college group projects, sabayang pagbigkas practice, group drama practice, family picnics, even my civil wedding were all done in QC Circle.. Only now that I realized all those happy memories were made of that green lashes surrounding. If I want to relax I just go there and watch the different activities, such as bicycling, bicycling stunt, stuntmen practice, karate, judo, ballroom dancing street-held exercise you can even join them. Chess board is abundant, and I cannot count how many times I had entered the Manuel L. Quezon Memorial, I even remember one of the artifacts displayed in the museum
serving as a proof of "tulay na lupa" connecting Philippines to some other continent, an elephant bone fossil in the now QC Circle. I also remember all the happy smiles of my high school and college classmates, whenever we stayed late due to finishing props we do it in front of the guard house untl it's all done..Until we say our goodbyes to Manong, the guard.. "See you next week manong!" .. now I am residing in other country, whenever I visit Phils. and passed through QC Circle everything is like a film showing in your mind including the faces of old classmates whose names you don't recall but the happy feelings always remain.
