Carlo Vergara's comic book character ZsaZsa Zaturnnah will again be showcased in an extraordinary theater production this month of January.
Playing the superheroine who wowed the crowd when she first gave life to the role is actress Eula Valdez in all her red-headed glory. Kalila Aguilos and Agot Isidro take turns at playing Queen Femina Suarestellar Baroux, ZsaZsa's archenemy.
There are also other colorful characters included with the cast. Amazonistas are man-haters who prove to be a tough set of enemies for the superhero. A beauty salon owner, his sidekick, as well as a man with the perfect 'noodles' all add to the colorful and eclectic cast.
Chris Millado directs the play, Shoko Matsumoto does the lighting design, while Sonny Aniceto does the stage design.
Millado won in 2003 at the Aliw Awards as Best Stage Director. Finally, Vince de Jesus serves as lyricist, composer and musical director with Chris Martinez as playwright.
The production runs from the 19th to the 28th of January at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute for two weekends in a row. You can call 832-3661 or 832-1125 locals 1620/1621 for ticket inquiries.
Vergara, the original comic book creator is a graphic designer who was awarded "Best Comic Book" in 2001 with his first solo work, "One Night in Purgatory" by the Sanghaya Yearbook of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Comments : Add a comment
