Due to their failure to obtain an operating permit from the Quezon City government for the past two years, the Conspiracy Garden Cafe was issued a closure order by the Bureau of Licensing and Permit Office.
The cafe was found in violation of the noise pollution limits and is operating without a mayor's permit for the past couple of years, although they are paying the appropriate taxes and other necessary fees.
The owners of the establishment are appealing the closure order and the said appeal was forwarded to the Office of the City Mayor.
However, Pacifico Maghacot said that the order was issued after tests have proven that they have violated the city's noise pollution limitations. In spite of the sound proof walls that the restaurant has, they still failed the noise pollution tests conducted by the local city government.
The cafe features folk singers each night and a complaint about the noise was filed by neighboring resident Nelly Leopando.
The decision for the appeal is still on hold, to be decided by the Mayor's Office after a review of the charges filed against the cafe. Maghacot added that the restaurant can operate again if they can comply with the requirements set by the city, and if the noise level can be reduced to acceptable standards.
The Conspiracy Garden Cafe is located along Visayas Avenue in Quezon City. Comments : Add a comment
