Quezon City PD Beefs Up Security during 'Peak' HoursPosted by msese

To further tighten security measures to ensure public safety, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will employ additional officers to man the streets of crime-prone areas in the locality - from 4 in the afternoon up to 12 midnight - hours where the most number of untoward incidents occur.

This new anti-crime strategy, according to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., aims to increase police visibility in the area.

Meanwhile, Magtanggol Gatdula, Director/Senior Superintendent of the QCPD said that this is in line with his "Duty Admin Duty" concept to conduct beat patrols, for at least three hours daily, in the streets of Quezon City. The officers assigned to the task will be pulled out from the Philippine National Police's (PNP) anti-crime operations.

Almost 200 policemen will be on patrol on busy streets, malls, bus terminals and other common places where petty thefts and other crimes occur.

The stategy seemingly works, as lesser crimes have been reported in Cubao, Quezon City's prime shopping district.

In relation, Gatdula mentioned that the increased security will also be beneficial and is part of the operations for the upcoming elections.

Implementation of the gun ban, monitoring of armed groups, nightly street checkpoints, roving police officers on motorcycles and public utility vehicle marshals are all part of their new anti-crime strategy.
