Quezon City Gov't Launches "E-school on Board"Posted by msese

In an effort to promote information technology (IT) and help educate the youth, the Quezon City government plans to launch 'traveling' computer classrooms.

The "E-school on Board Program" aims to deliver information about IT and communications services to public elementary schools. In the said program, old shipping containers will serve as computer laboratories and classrooms.

One month acquisition programs will be offered to graduation elementary students, offering courses on Microsoft's Word, Excel and Powerpoint applications. The use of the Internet will also be studied.

The allotted budget for the project is P14.7 million and initially, two units will be assigned to Quezon City District 2.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. is due to sign a memorandum of agreement to kick off the project. The city is also a recipient of the e-Skwela project of the Commission on Information & Communication Technology, where adults and out-of-school youths are given educational opportunities.
