Quezon City’s CDM Project Aims to Lessen PollutionPosted by msese
    Feb 23, 2007 10:50 pm

In an effort to reduce pollution of the environment, the Quezon City Council has approved a memorandum of agreement between them and two private corporations. The project aims to use the Clean Development Mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed last February 14 with representative from PANGEA Green Energy S.R.L from Italy and the Philippines.

In a statement, Councilor Ariel Enrile Inton, jr. said that the QC Council members are aware of the social, financial and technological benefits to be brought about by the ratification of the MOA.

The QC Council becomes the first team to carry out the CDM project. Here, biogas will be used for electrification purposes, where the methane will be produced from the garbage beneath the former Payatas dumpsite.
