Due to stress and severe weakness, thirteen farmers who are also members of the Task Force Mapalad were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center yesterday.
They are among the 22 farmers who went on hunger strike in front of the Quezon City branch of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
The act is in protest against DAR’s alleged inaction to their appeal of being established in the 144-hectare of land in the Hacienda Velez-Malaga in Barangay Robles, Las Castellans. The property in Negros Occidental was awarded to them under the government’s Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Act or CARP.
This is the sixth day of the protest which began on Wednesday. Prior to the hunger strike, the farmers shaved their head to highlight their cause. Comments : Add a comment
